Reason why you are taking this course and what you would like to do after school:



I am taking this double major course as the world of performing and creating have always been things that I love and have grown up being apart of. For as long as I can remember I have been performing. From dance recitals, plays, public speaking competitions, singing events and now modeling, I have always loved entertaining and being in front of people. Something I am very talented and strong in. I am taking the double major component because as much as I love being on the stage I would also love to learn about what goes on behind the scenes weather it be being behind a camera, controlling the lighting/ sound systems, building a set or my favorite learning about advertising and marketing in the entertainment world,  I really believe it is important to be well rounded and understand the magic that happens on both sides of the spectrum.



With this double major I plan on eventually getting my Masters in Communication studies so I can perhaps teach at a University Level one day. However my real love is the fashion entertainment world. I am looking at attending Ryerson Universities Fashion Communication with possible automatic entry based on maintaining my GPA into second year studies in 2010. My love for painting, scrap booking, crafts and writing and drawing would come into play here. Being an arts student my entire life I have been able to more fully explore my imagination and continuously generate creative ideas and images out of the simplest of things.



Modeling has become a huge area of interest to me in the last year and a half. Although it has only been through portfolio building with local photographers, casting calls for special projects and a few local fashions shows it is something I really enjoy and can honestly tell you it is the one thing that makes me nervous in the good kind of way. Something I would not only like to pursue in front of the camera but as well as behind the scenes. With a degree in Fashion Communications I would like to go Advertising and Promotions hoping to on day open up my own advertising and Design Company in the Fashion Entertainment World.



Right now I am managing a Fashion Show for The Better World Today Association raising money and awareness for Bone Marrow. I have been in charge of putting together small events all leading up to the final product in mid July. Such as casting, small fun photo shoots for the girls involved, fundraising, and promotional events a various venues to raise money. As well I am the Social Events Planner on the Social Science Society Student body board at the University of Windsor. Helping me to give back to my peers and at the same time getting valuable experience in promotions, advertising and event planning for my future.



My Big dreams would be to one day plan and put together a Fashion show or Gala for a large and popular Designer such as Ralph Lauren or Oscar de la Renta.

Heroes - person you look up and to and why:



It is hard for me to pick just one hero. But on a whole, as cliché as it may sound both my Mom and Dad are my heroes.



My mom I can honestly tell you is my best friend in the entire world. As much as I hate to admit it sometimes, I hope that one-day I am just like her. I am very lucky to have someone I can confide so strongly in and talk to about anything. I know most kids my age could probably not say that. Everything she does is for my family. I have never met someone so un-selfish in my entire life. She is very strong and that strength has helped to pull me through in the roughest times. She is always there to catch me and in a silly way she is my safety net. As much as I wish sometimes she would just not be over protective and let me make mistakes, I know that I am lucky nonetheless.



My father, now he is where I get my stage presence and sense of humor from. He is my hero because he came from nothing but lives to give my brothers and me everything he never had. We all get 10 new pairs of shoes a year and he is lucky and happy if he gets one pair every 5 years. Like my mother he is very selfless. Most of all he is the most positive man I have ever met. He rarely gets angry and would rather crack a joke than get into a fight. He has a lot of motivational things he has been telling me since I was little, like “ If you thing you can, you will, If you think you can’t, you won’t. He has never told me I couldn’t do something. I would have to say he is my biggest fan and is determined and has more confidence that I sometimes do in myself that I am bound for success

What you like to do in your free time:

My general motto (under circumstances hehe) is that I will try anything once, twice if I like it!!! With that said I think I am a pretty well rounded girl. I love the journey,  even though the ride maybe bumpy.


Some of my most favourite things to do hobby wise are: singing, dancing (every kind), OF COURSE Shopping!!!, painting, drawing, decorating, baking, scrap booking and modeling –many which I have previously mentioned.



I also love writing, anything from songs, poems, my opinions or just random thoughts in my head I love getting them out on paper and always feel so much more fulfilled afterwards.



I also love keeping in shape. I really think exercise is the key to happiness. After I am finished jogging, rollerblading, golfing or wrestling/ boxing I always feel so much better about my body and much happier all around. With that- I was an OFFSSA wrestler in high school in my graduating year. Being in the tiniest weight class possible I love being challenged and it was something completely different than anything I have ever done in my life. Loved it.



I also love traveling. I have been so fortunate to have been able to travel a lot over7 the years. Recently traveling twice to Europe –France, Spain, Italy,  and England .etc. Something that I am also looking forward to doing more of once I am done my studies.



I love my family and my friends and like anyone I love spending time with them. Weather it be going out dancing or just sitting in the basement watching a movie it’s the simple things that generally mean the most.



I love helping. I won a Christian leadership award at my Graduation. Volunteer is a big thing for me. I am an avid COR Youth Leader for youth retreats, active Teen Health Centre Volunteer, BWTA coordinator and most recently signed up with Big Sisters to become a big sister to a little girl in the Fall. Something that brings a smile to my face.

Now some facts:

I NEVER run out of words. Hehe I always have something to talk about!!, most people will tell you I take WAY to many pictures but I just love snapping memories, I have a silly laugh which you will hear at least once a day, I am very “random” I always have ideas. I love my alone time but I am a get up and go kind of girl. I try and make the most out of life. Even though I generally don’t get enough sleep!!! In pictures, in silly situations I like to make “drama faces” sometimes life just needs some fun.



The contest is an amazing Idea. I commend you for the idea- brains and beauty should be recognized hand in hand together much more.
